Man charged with DUI after boat crash in Hubbardton

HUBBARDTON — A 39-year-old man was arrested after a boat crash in Hubbardton yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified of a boat that crashed into a floating trampoline on Lake Hortonia at around 7:35 p.m.

Police say two juveniles were on the trampoline at the time of the crash and were safely able to make it to shore.

One of the juveniles sustained a minor foot injury and the other was uninjured.

Police say an adult man sustained a leg injury attempting to help the children.

According to the report, Joseph Moffit, of Hubbardton, was traveling south on Lake Hortonia in his motorized boat at the time of the crash.

Police say that Moffit displayed signs of impairment, and it was found that he was operating the boat while under the influence of alcohol.

Moffit was arrested for BWI and was transported to the State Police barracks in Rutland for processing.

He was released with a citation to answer for the charge of BWI.
