Police: 2 pride flags set on fire in Isle La Motte

ISLE LA MOTTE — Police are investigating a vandalism that occurred in Isle La Motte over the weekend.

Authorities say they were notified that flags were set on fire at a home on Main Street at around 1:20 a.m. on Saturday.

The fire spread to the tree that the flags were on, triggering a local fire department response.

Police say that the “Progress Pride Flag” and a “Trans Pride Flag” were ignited shortly before the time of the call.

It was reported that this is one of several similar incidents in the area occurring in the last month.

State police notified the Attorney General’s Office of this case as a possible hate crime.
