STAMFORD — Police are investigating a series of car break-ins that took place in Bennington County last week.

On June 17, authorities were notified of two separate thefts from a motor vehicle at the Stamford Valley Golf Course.

Police say credit cards and cash were stolen from the vehicles and used at the Walmart in North Adams, MA, to purchase some miscellaneous items and $500 worth of Apple gift cards.

Similar thefts occurred at the Mt. Anthony Country Club in Bennington, where credit cards were stolen and used at local Walmarts.

Video surveillance revealed the same middle-aged man and woman, dressed in golf attire, driving a silver SUV, conducting the transactions.

Police say the suspects have made off with approximately $10,000 in cash and cards.

State police are requesting help from the public in identifying the individuals involved.

Anyone with information regarding the thefts is being asked to contact Trooper Nicholas Grimes at 802-442-5421.
