SHAFTSBURY — A 45-year-old man from New York was involved in a single-vehicle crash in Shaftsbury yesterday.

Authorities were notified of a crash with property damage on Vermont Route 67 west at around 4:20 p.m.

The vehicle had traveled off the road and collided with a power pole.

There is a slight curve left in this portion of the road, and police say Richard V. Allen Jr., of Watervliet, NY, had missed the turn.

The power pole was broken at the base and had almost collapsed.

The road was shut down temporarily to allow assisting agencies to help clear the scene.

Police say the road surface was also a contributing factor to the crash.

Allen was not injured during the incident.

State Police were assisted by Shaftsbury Fire Department, Southern Vermont Auto Towing, and Green Mountain Power.
