Crash takes out power lines in Wardsboro

WARDSBORO — A 40-year-old man from Bennington was cited following a crash in Wardsboro on Friday.

Authorities say they were notified of a call to report power lines and a pole down on Vermont Route 100 at around 2:40 p.m.

Troopers responded to the scene, which revealed that a single motor vehicle crashed into the pole causing it to fall into the road.

Police say the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene.

Witnesses were able to give a description of the man to be approximately 5’10” in height, with a long black beard and shoulder-length black hair, wearing grey sweatpants and a long sleeve green fleece style shirt.

State Police Dispatch received a call to report that a man matching the above description was walking on Vermont Route 100 matching the description of the driver at around 8:35 a.m.

Troopers made contact with the man, who was identified as Tyler D. Galipeau.

Following an investigation, police say that Galipeau gave false information to a law enforcement officer.

He was released with a criminal citation to appear in court on August 2 to answer the charge.
