WOODBURY — Two residents of Hardwick were arrested following an investigation that was opened in Woodbury yesterday.

Police were investigating an aggravated assault and burglary on West Woodbury Road at around 7:00 p.m.

The individual in question was located on Scott Road in Hardwick.

When troopers arrived on the scene to take the suspect into custody, Wayne Tallman, 52, and Amy Tallman, 48, are alleged to have impeded troopers.

Police say Wayne Tallman proceeded to operate an excavator and recklessly maneuvered the bucket near the troopers and their cruisers in an attempt to prevent them from arresting the suspect.

Troopers were forced to retreat with the suspect before addressing the threat that Tallman had caused.

An investigation led to his arrest for aggravated assault on a protected official, resisting arrest, impeding, and reckless endangerment.

He was transported to the State Police barracks in Berlin for processing.

He was released with a citation to appear in court today.

Amy Tallman was issued a citation for impeding an officer.
