DUI charges after driver hits a deer in Lowell

OWELL — A 23-year-old man from Eden was arrested for DUI refusal following an incident in Lowell on Friday.

Authorities say they were notified by a concerned citizen stating she could hear people in front of her home screaming and yelling on Diette Road at around 11:25 p.m.

Police say they located a white Mitsubishi SUV with no registration plate and individuals running into the wooded area.

The three individuals exited the wooded area without incident.

Benjamin Allen told police that he had hit a deer.

While speaking with Allen, the odor of intoxicants was detected.

Allen was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and transported to the Derby barracks.
