Tunbridge man killed during crash in Williamstown

WILLIAMSTOWN — A 37-year-old man from Tunbridge was killed during a crash in Williamstown on Saturday.

The two-vehicle crash took place on Vermont Route 14 at around 9:00 a.m.

According to the report, a northbound vehicle, driven by David Welch, crossed into the southbound lane and collided with Michael Merrill, 72, of Williamstown.

Police say Welch was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Merrill was transported to Central Vermont Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Vermont State Police Crash Reconstruction Team responded to process the crash.

The route was closed for around 4 hours while crews were on the scene.

Police say the investigation into this crash remains active, and anyone who witnessed it is being asked to contact Tpr. Lambert at the Middlesex State Police barracks at 802-229-9191.
