MONDAY 04-04-22

  • Conducted Patrols in 5 towns. Traffic stops were conducted for motor vehicle violations with warnings and/ or tickets issued.
  • Cell Phone Enforcement – Ferrisburgh – Deputies participated in a Statewide campaign to enforce cell phone use while driving laws. Deputies on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh conducted several traffic stops and issued 10 tickets for use of an electronic device while driving.

TUESDAY 04-05-22

  • Conducted Patrols in 6 towns. Traffic stops were conducted for motor vehicle violations with warnings and/ or tickets issued.

  • Escort – 4 Deputies provided a blue light escort for 2 oversize loads from Middlebury to the Massachusetts state line.
  • Public Assist – Vergennes – Deputies stood by with a landlord while they changed the locks on an apartment door. The tenant had been evicted by the Court but had not adhered to the timeline given to move out. Since the property had been turned back over to the owner, the locks were changed to ensure the tenant could not regain access to the apartment.
  • Solid Waste Complaint – New Haven – Trash was reported to be blowing off of a resident’s property and onto another. A deputy contacted the owner of the trash and advised them that it needed to be picked up or a ticket would be issued.

WEDNESDAY 04-06-22

  • Conducted Patrols in 8 towns. Traffic stops were conducted for motor vehicle violations with warnings and/ or tickets issued.
  • Cell Phone Enforcement – Ferrisburgh – Deputies participated in a Statewide campaign to enforce cell phone use while driving laws. Deputies on Route 7 conducted several traffic stops and issued 5 tickets for use of an electronic device while driving.
  • Overweight Violation – Monkton – While on patrol on Monkton Rd, the Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement deputy observed a Tractor Trailer operating on a weight restricted road. The TT unit was stopped and did not have a permit to be operating on that road. The vehicle was weighed, and it was 39,000 lbs overweight. A ticket was issued for the violation.

THURSDAY 04-07-22

  • Conducted Patrols in 3 towns. Traffic stops were conducted for motor vehicle violations with warnings and/ or tickets issued.
  • Cell Phone Enforcement – Shoreham / Middlebury – Deputies participated in a Statewide campaign to enforce cell phone use while driving laws. Deputies on Route 22a and Route 7 conducted several traffic stops and issued 13 tickets for use of an electronic device while driving.

FRIDAY 04-08-22

  • Conducted Patrols in 9 towns. Traffic stops were conducted for motor vehicle violations with warnings and/ or tickets issued.
  • Cell Phone Enforcement – Middlebury – Deputies participated in a Statewide campaign to enforce cell phone use while driving laws. Deputies on Route 7 conducted several traffic stops and issued 2 tickets for use of an electronic device while driving.
  • Agency Assist – Shoreham – A deputy assisted the Vermont State Police with a potentially disorderly person at the Service Center that had stolen a vehicle. It was discovered that the person was experiencing a mental health episode and they were transported to the hospital.

MONDAY 04-11-22

  • Conducted Patrols in 9 towns. Traffic stops were conducted for motor vehicle violations with warnings and/ or tickets issued.
  • Cell Phone Enforcement – Ferrisburgh – Deputies participated in a Statewide campaign to enforce cell phone use while driving laws. Deputies on Route 7 conducted several traffic stops and issued 4 tickets for use of an electronic device while driving.

TUESDAY 04-12-22

  • Conducted Patrols in 12 towns. Traffic stops were conducted for motor vehicle violations with warnings and/ or tickets issued.

  • Solid Waste Complaint (Dumping) – Bristol – The manager of an apartment complex discovered trash in a dumpster that did not belong to anyone at the complex. Looking through the trash, deputies were able to find out who the trash belongs to. A ticket will be issued for the unauthorized use of the dumpster.
  • Escort – NY/VT Border to Jericho – Deputies provided a blue light escort for an oversized load.

WEDNESDAY 04-13-22

  • Conducted Patrols in 11 towns. Traffic stops were conducted for motor vehicle violations with warnings and/ or tickets issued.
  • Overweight Violation – Monkton – While on patrol on Monkton Rd, the Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement deputy observed a Tractor Trailer operating on a weight restricted road. The TT unit was stopped and did not have a permit to be operating on that road. The vehicle was weighed, and it was 44,000 lbs overweight. A ticket was issued for the violation.

THURSDAY 04-14-22

  • Conducted Patrols in 7 towns. Traffic stops were conducted for motor vehicle violations with warnings and/ or tickets issued.
  • Illegal Dumping – Orwell – A resident discovered a garbage bag in a stream. When they pulled it from the water, it did not feel like a normal bag of trash. A deputy opened the bag and discovered several dead rabbits along with several pieces and parts of a deer. There was nothing that could identify who the parts belonged to and the carcasses were properly disposed of. If anyone has any information about who may have done this, please contact our office.
  • Overweight Violation – New Haven – While on patrol on River Rd, the Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement deputy observed a Tractor Trailer operating on a weight restricted road. The TT unit was stopped and did not have a permit to be operating on that road. The vehicle was weighed, and it was 59,000 lbs overweight. A ticket was issued for the violation.

FRIDAY 04-15-22

  • Conducted Patrols in 9 towns. Traffic stops were conducted for motor vehicle violations with warnings and/ or tickets issued.
  • Solid Waste Complaint (Dumping and Burning) – Salisbury – A resident discovered a large pile of trash that had been dumped on his property and then attempted to have been burned. Looking through the trash, a deputy discovered who the trash belonged to. This person will be ticketed for dumping their trash.

SATURDAY 04-16-22

  • Public Assist – Middlebury – The Sheriff and a deputy assisted with the Bus Rodeo at G. Stone Motors.

MONDAY – FRIDAY

  • Provided security at the Mahady Courthouse in Middlebury. This includes screening visitors as they enter the Courthouse and security in the Courtroom during hearings.
  • Several deputies served paperwork for Civil Process.
  • A trainee participated in training with the department training officers and classes at the Vermont Police Academy.
