Impaired driver crashes into VSP cruiser in St. Johnsbury

ST. JOHNSBURY — A 59-year-old woman from North Concord was arrested for DUI following an incident in St. Johnsbury yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified of an intoxicated woman operating a motor vehicle while attempting to pick up her child from Northeast Kingdom Human Services on Portland Street at around 4:50 p.m.

When troopers arrived on the scene, the driver reversed her vehicle into a state police cruiser, causing damage.

The driver was identified as Maria Morse.

While speaking with Morse, police say they detected signs of impairment.

Morse was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI.

After processing at the barracks she was detoxed at NERCF.
