MONDAY 02-28-22

  • Conducted Patrols in 6 towns. Traffic stops were conducted for motor vehicle violations with warnings and/ or tickets issued.
  • Agency Assist – Middlebury – The Middlebury Police Department arrested an individual on an outstanding warrant and contacted the Sheriff’s Department to transport the person to jail. The prisoner indicated that they had a family member that was able to pay their bail, so the deputy took the bail from the family member and the person was released.
  • Community Outreach – Middlebury – Provided space for a supervised visit for Women Safe.

TUESDAY 03-01-22

  • Conducted Patrols in 8 towns. Traffic stops were conducted for motor vehicle violations with warnings and/ or tickets issued.

  • Firearms Training – Middlebury – Before attending the Level 2 Academy, 2 new recruits went through a basic firearms course with the Department firearms instructor to prepare for their upcoming class.

WEDNESDAY 03-02-22

  • Conducted Patrols in 5 towns. Traffic stops were conducted for motor vehicle violations with warnings and/ or tickets issued.
  • Transport – Maine to Vermont – Police in Maine arrested an individual on an outstanding warrant from Vermont. Deputies travelled to Maine and took custody of this person and brought them back to Vermont. The individual was left at a correctional facility until they could go before a judge.
  • Public Assist – Bristol – A deputy retrieved an item from a residence that was needed by an individual who was not allowed to return to the house due to a court order.
  • Restraining Order Violation – Ripton – An individual made a report of a restraining order being broken after someone attempted to contact them after the court had ordered them not to. The offender was issued a citation to appear before a judge the following day.

THURSDAY 03-03-22

  • Conducted Patrols in 10 towns. Traffic stops were conducted for motor vehicle violations with warnings and/ or tickets issued.
  • Community Outreach – Middlebury – Provided space for a supervised visit for Women Safe.
  • Bad Check – Salisbury – Deputies took a report of several checks that bounced from an individual who was paying their rent. The case is ongoing and being actively investigated.

FRIDAY 03-04-22

  • Conducted Patrols in 10 towns. Traffic stops were conducted for motor vehicle violations with warnings and/ or tickets issued.
  • Agency Assist – Bridport – Deputies responded to Route 125 for the report of a 2-car head on crash with possible serious injuries. Deputies assisted the Vermont State Police with measurements of the crash and remained on scene until cleared by Troopers. Both operators involved were transported to the hospital to be evaluated.

MONDAY – FRIDAY

  • Provided security at the Mahady Courthouse in Middlebury. This includes screening visitors as they enter the Courthouse and security in the Courtroom during hearings.
  • Several deputies served paperwork for Civil Process.
