Burlington man charged with assault, drug trafficking

BURLINGTON — A 54-year-old man was arrested and charged with aggravated 1st degree-domestic assault and fentanyl trafficking following an incident that took place in Burlington on Sunday.

Police say that the victim told them that her boyfriend had pointed a firearm at her at around 4:00 p.m.

The victim told police that she was hiding in the bathroom and her boyfriend was in the other room during the call.

Police say they approached the home and made contact with the victim and her boyfriend, identified as Terrance Anderson, of Burlington.

Following an investigation, police allege Anderson pointed the firearm at the victim and stated “I’m going to shoot you and then kill myself.”

The victim grabbed their cell phone and hid in the bathroom calling 911.

Police say they located a loaded 9mm Ruger hidden on top of clothes in a laundry basket covered with a shoebox.

Anderson was taken into custody and transported back to the Burlington Police Department.

Anderson was searched and found to be in possession of five and a half bundles of suspected Fentanyl and $500 in cash.

A search warrant for Anderson’s residence was granted.

Inside a safe at the home, police say they found $17,300 in cash, a large quantity of suspected Fentanyl, a large quantity of Oxycontin pills of various doses, a large bag of small ½ sized bags consistent with sale distribution, a large quantity of suspected heroin, a large plastic baggie with packaging containing smaller Ziploc bags with suspected heroin consistent with sale distribution, a scale, and two different caliber loaded magazines belonging to a firearm.

Anderson had $5,000 bail set on him, a 24-hour curfew, and released to a responsible adult.

He is scheduled to appear in court today.
