NEWFANE — A 48-year-old woman from Jamaica was arrested on multiple charges following an incident in Newfane yesterday.

Police say they observed an oncoming vehicle drift over the centerline into their lane on Vermont Route 30 at around 6:15 p.m.

Troopers caught up to the vehicle and in following it say they observed numerous motor vehicle violations on Williamsville Road.

Violations include high rates of speeds, marked lanes violations, and at times driving nearly down the center of the road, police say.

Police initiated a traffic stop and screened the driver, identified as Christine Rausch, for suspicion of DUI.

She was later arrested for DUI.

During the attempt to take Rausch into custody, police say she resisted arrest.

She was processed and issued a citation to appear in court to answer the charges of DUI Drugs, negligent operation, and resisting arrest.
