SUNDERLAND — A 21-year-old driver from New York was cited for excessive speeding following an incident in Sunderland on Saturday.
Police say they observed a vehicle traveling at a rate of speed confirmed to be 120 miles-per-hour in a posted 55 miles-per-hour zone while patrolling Route 7 at around 12:30 a.m.
Police initiated a traffic stop and the driver was identified as Zhaoyi Zheng, of Stony Brook, NY.
Zheng was issued a criminal citation to appear in court on December 13 to answer to the
charges of excessive speed and reckless endangerment.
