Car fire extinguished on State Highway 206 in Bear Spring

BEAR SPRING, NY — The Walton Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on State Highway 206 on Thursday night.

Firefighters were dispatched at 7:45 p.m. for a report of a 2011 Kia Optima smoking heavily on the side of the road.

The first officer arrived at 7:52 p.m. and reported the car was fully engulfed in flames.

Additional resources were called to assist with traffic control.

The fire was extinguished by 8:20 p.m.

Oralls Towing removed the vehicle from the scene.

The area was washed down before fire units returned to the station.

The Walton Police Department, Colchester Police Department, Downsville Fire Department, New York State Police and Delaware 911 dispatchers assisted at the scene.
