CRAWFORD, NY — The New York State Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on State Route 17K in the Town of Crawford on March 10, 2026, at approximately 3:45 p.m.
A preliminary investigation determined that a Town of Crawford Police Officer observed a 2011 Nissan traveling on the wrong side of the roadway.
The officer activated emergency lights and sirens and followed the vehicle at a safe distance as it continued westbound on State Route 17K.
The operator of the Nissan, identified as Marilyn Duncan, 81, of Middletown, left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck an unoccupied, parked 2012 Honda on the southbound shoulder.
The Nissan then entered a ditch.
As a result of the initial impact, the Honda was pushed into two additional parked vehicles, a 2023 Subaru and a 2013 Toyota.
Duncan and her 8-year-old passenger were transported to Garnet Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation revealed that Duncan experienced a medical event at the time of the collision.
Witnesses also reported observing the vehicle traveling on the wrong side of the roadway and contacted 911.
