Postal worker charged with shoving child in Viola

VIOLA, NY — A postal worker was charged with shoving a 4-year-old child to the ground while on duty, according to the Town of Ramapo Police Department.

The incident occurred on March 19 at approximately 6:25 p.m. in the Viola section of the Town of Ramapo.

Police said a 39-year-old man from Stony Point, employed by the United States Postal Service, intentionally shoved the child to the ground while performing his duties.

The man was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, and attempted assault in the third degree, a misdemeanor.

He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Town of Ramapo Justice Court at a later date.
