ASHFORD, NY — Two men were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop on March 18, 2026.
William J. Hebdon, 61, of East Otto, and Larry J. Kent, 61, of Ellicottville, were both charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree.
The arrests occurred at approximately 7:47 p.m. following a traffic stop and drug investigation conducted by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol/K9, the Ellicottville Police Department, and the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.
The task force consists of members from the Sheriff’s Office, Salamanca Police Department, and Olean Police Department.
During the investigation, K9 Echo was deployed for a vehicle sniff and gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics.
A subsequent vehicle search led to the discovery of more than 2 ounces of suspected cocaine.
Hebdon and Kent were both arraigned in the Town of Ashford Court.
Hebdon was remanded to the Cattaraugus County jail while Kent was released and is due back in court at a later date.
