GENESEO, NY — A Portage man faces a felony charge after allegedly failing to appear for a scheduled court date in January.
Zachary Pruonto, 40, was arrested March 13 on a charge of bail jumping in the second degree.
Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty said Investigator Martin Herkimer of the Criminal Investigations Division began investigating the case Feb. 25.
Pruonto allegedly failed to appear at his scheduled court appearance in Livingston County Court on Jan. 22 or voluntarily within 30 days thereafter to answer an indictment.
The indictment filed through the Superior Court in the County of Livingston consisted of both a class D and class E felony.
Investigator Herkimer located Pruonto and took him into custody at his residence March 13.
Pruonto was transported to the Livingston County Jail where he was turned over to Central Booking Deputies for processing and pre-arraignment detention.
He was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Leicester Justice Durbin.
The judge remanded Pruonto to the custody of the Sheriff on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 partially secured bond, which was also the recommendation of the Livingston County District Attorney’s Office.
The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Pruonto at the arraignment.
Members of the Criminal Investigations Division and the Patrol Division assisted with the investigation.
