SCHROON, NY — New York State Police arrested a man on stolen property charges March 11, 2026.
Colin F. Brown, 32, of Albany, was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree (motor vehicle) and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd Degree (value greater than $3,000).
At approximately 3:36 p.m., troopers were patrolling Interstate 87 in the town of Schroon when they observed a 2024 black Chevrolet Trax that had been reported stolen.
Troopers initiated a traffic stop and interviewed the sole occupant of the vehicle, who was identified as Brown.
Troopers detained Brown and conducted a search while continuing their investigation.
Brown was subsequently transported to State Police Schroon Lake for processing.
He was remanded to the Essex County Jail for a pre-arraignment hold.
