BLOOMSBURG, PA — Police are searching for a 42-year-old man accused of forging checks and making dozens of unauthorized transactions using a victim’s debit card.
Chad Jeffrey Snyder is wanted on three counts of forgery, 44 counts of access device fraud, one count of theft by unlawful taking and three additional counts of theft by unlawful taking.
Officer Fitzwater of the Bloomsburg Police Department began investigating in August following a report of forgery and theft of funds.
Following the issuance of search warrants, investigators discovered Snyder had made 44 unauthorized transactions using the victim’s debit card in an attempt to transfer funds to his personal CashApp account or to transfer funds directly to acquaintances, according to police.
Of the 44 attempts, Snyder successfully transferred funds 21 times, police said.
Further investigation revealed Snyder had taken blank checks from the victim without authorization and forged the victim’s signature to obtain U.S. currency, according to police.
Snyder is believed to be in the State College area.
An active arrest warrant was issued March 4.
