Man extricated from overturned truck in Ulster

ULSTER, NY — The Ulster Police Department responded to a personal injury automobile accident on State Route 209 in the area of the Enterprise Drive overpass at approximately 4:54 p.m. March 12, 2026.

Upon arrival, officers located a 2004 Ford F-250 utility truck on its side in the southbound lane with the operator trapped inside.

The vehicle was leaking a large amount of gasoline.

Officers made contact with the operator, Jalen Heroy, 32, of Clintondale, who was acting extremely erratic and at times attempting to ignite the gasoline.

Heroy was extricated with assistance of the Ulster Hose Fire Department and subsequently became physically combative with officers.

Heroy was taken into custody and transported to Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston for further evaluation.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time.

The Ulster Police Department was assisted on scene by the New York State Police, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Ulster Hose Company No. 5, Empress EMS, Town of Ulster Highway Department and NYSDOT.

The southbound lanes of Route 209 were closed for approximately one hour before the roadway was cleared and safe for travel.
