Four arrested on drug charges in Manlius

MANLIUS, NY — Four people were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop on Collamer Road on March 11.

Town of Manlius Police Officers stopped a 2008 Honda Odyssey at approximately 5:58 p.m. for a traffic infraction.

Officers observed three individuals in the vehicle but noticed a fourth person attempting to hide under a blanket across the third-row seat.

The man hiding, Alaa Saadaldein, 36, of East Syracuse, was found to have an arrest warrant from the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office for criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th degree.

Officers found multiple items of drug paraphernalia, knives, a pellet air gun and a quantity of a crystalline substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine in the vehicle and in possession of the occupants.

Multiple items consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine were also located within the vehicle.

The New York State Police’s Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team assisted at the scene.

Saadaldein, Abdulaziz Alhassan, 41, of Syracuse, Amer Alkasem-Almahmoud, 55, of Syracuse, and Timothy Casey, 50, of Brewerton, were each charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 4th degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the 4th degree and criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the 2nd degree.

They were transported to the Onondaga County Justice Center where they were held pending arraignment.
