Man stabbed in Mattawamkeag

MATTAWAMKEAG, ME — A man was stabbed during a reported home invasion early Friday morning, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a residence on Indian Avenue at approximately 6:30 a.m. after the Penobscot County Regional Communications Center received a report of a possible home invasion involving a stabbing.

The victim fled the scene in a vehicle and drove to another residence, deputies said.

Deputies located the victim at the second location and confirmed he had been injured.

The victim was transported to Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln for treatment.

Deputies and Maine State Police secured the original scene on Indian Avenue.

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division is conducting an investigation.

The sheriff’s office said there is no danger to the public.
