BATH, NY — A man was arrested after police observed him violating a full stay away order of protection on March 11, 2026.
Members of the Village of Bath Police Department were on patrol in the area of West Morris Street at approximately 12:52 p.m. when officers observed the violation.
Officers observed Matthew J. Machuga, 27, of Bath, make contact with a protected party in a full stay away order of protection.
Officers were familiar with the individuals and had prior knowledge that the order of protection was in place.
Officers made contact with Machuga and placed him into custody without incident.
Machuga was transported to Bath Police Department for processing where he was charged with one count of criminal contempt in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor, and one count of aggravated family offense, a Class E felony.
While in Bath Police Department custody, Machuga was provided medical care at an area hospital before being transported to the Steuben County Jail for centralized arraignment part arraignment.
Machuga is a two time convicted felon in the State of New York, recently released from state prison and is currently under the supervision of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
Machuga remains incarcerated in the Steuben County Jail and parole has been notified.
