HAMDEN, NY — A Hancock man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly violating an order of protection by sending Facebook messages to a protected person.

James Procak Jr., 38, of Hancock, was charged with one count of criminal contempt in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Delaware County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an order of protection violation at Delaware Opportunities on State Highway 10 on Wednesday morning.

An investigation determined that Procak had sent multiple Facebook messages to a protected person while a valid order of protection issued by the Town of Walton Court was in effect, according to Sheriff Craig S. DuMond.

Deputies located and arrested Procak following the investigation.

He was processed and turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility pending his appearance at Centralized Arraignment Part Court.
