WATERVILLE, ME — Maine State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 that left one person seriously injured.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:38 a.m. Wednesday on I-95 northbound.
A vehicle driven by Raymond Fenderson, 41, of Brunswick, was merging onto I-95 northbound from the mile marker 130 on-ramp when he collided with a motorist traveling northbound on the interstate, according to police.
Fenderson’s vehicle crashed head-on into the guardrail on the median side, and he became entrapped in the vehicle.
Crews from Waterville Fire and Rescue worked to extricate Fenderson from the vehicle, freeing him after approximately 30 minutes.
Fenderson sustained serious injuries that are considered non-life threatening and was transported by Waterville Fire to a local hospital.
No other injuries were reported.
The preliminary investigation indicates impairment is a likely factor.
The passing lane on I-95 was shut down while emergency responders removed Fenderson and cleared the wreckage from the roadway.
The crash remains under investigation.
