BOSTON, MA — A Dorchester man faces multiple firearm charges after police say he fled from officers who were responding to a group drinking alcohol in public.

On Monday, March 9, 2026, officers assigned to District C-11 arrested Denilson Pires, 22, of Dorchester.

At about 8:27 p.m., officers observed a group congregating in the area of 105 Draper Street and noticed the group was openly drinking alcohol in public.

As officers exited their cruisers, one individual began to walk away from the group.

The man continued to walk on Draper Street towards Bowdoin Street and was hunched at his waist.

When officers advised the man that he could not be drinking alcohol in public, he fled on foot.

A foot pursuit ensued, and officers stopped the suspect.

During a pat frisk, a firearm was recovered from the suspect’s waistband.

The firearm was determined to be a Smith and Wesson M&P Bodyguard .380 with nine rounds in the magazine.

The serial number on the firearm was also defaced.

Pires is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of carry a firearm without a license, carry a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and firearm serial defaced.
