FAIRFIELD, NJ — Three people were arrested for shoplifting at Target on March 7, 2026, according to the Fairfield Police Department.
At approximately 8:39 p.m., Fairfield officers were dispatched to Target on a report of three individuals who had attempted to leave the store without paying for merchandise.
Target security advised that two females ran from the store towards the parking lot and a male left shortly after.
Officers Corey Perrette, Luca Catania and Carmelo Caramanna arrived on scene and located Shamecka Morrison, 36, of Passaic, and Sharonna Patterson, 36, of Paterson, inside their vehicle in the parking lot.
Both women were detained at that time.
Corporal Steven D’Argenio and Officer Omar Qasem located Michael Coleman, 36, of Paterson, and detained him as well.
Video surveillance from Target confirmed the three were involved in the shoplifting, police said.
All three individuals entered Target, filled shopping carts with various merchandise, and attempted to leave the store without paying, according to police.
Once they were approached by security, they left the merchandise and fled.
The total amount shoplifted was $1,349.53 for Morrison, $473.29 for Patterson and $152.88 for Coleman.
All three were transported to police headquarters for processing.
Morrison was charged with shoplifting, obstruction and conspiracy.
Patterson was charged with shoplifting and conspiracy.
Both women were released pending an initial appearance at the Essex County Courthouse on April 16, 2026.
Coleman was charged with shoplifting and conspiracy, and was transported to the Essex County Jail pending a first appearance.
