NORTH HAVEN, CT — A Hartford man has been arrested in connection with a check fraud investigation that began nearly three years ago.
Wesley Pearson, 27, of Hartford, was taken into custody on March 9, 2026, and charged with larceny in the 2nd degree and forgery in the 3rd degree.
The investigation began in May 2023 when patrol officers met with a complainant at police headquarters regarding a report of check fraud involving their business.
The complainant reported a company-issued check valued at over $14,000 had been fraudulently altered and deposited into an unknown bank account belonging to a company that neither the complainant nor their business recognized.
North Haven detectives executed several search warrants within multiple financial institutions during the long-term investigation.
As a result of the investigation, detectives identified Pearson as the individual responsible for depositing the fraudulent check.
Detectives applied for an arrest warrant, which was approved.
