JAMESTOWN, NY — A man faces multiple charges after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase through the city early Sunday.
Officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s Third Platoon observed a vehicle leaving a downtown business at a high rate of speed at approximately 12:38 a.m. on March 8, 2026, after being dispatched for a report of a disorderly person.
Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver failed to comply, according to police.
A vehicle pursuit ensued throughout the city.
During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle failed to stop at a posted stop sign and nearly struck another vehicle while traveling at a high rate of speed, police said.
The vehicle came to a stop on the south side of the city, where officers made contact with the driver, identified as Tyler C. Anderson.
Anderson was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail.
While at the jail, it was determined that Anderson had been operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition, according to police.
While confined in his cell, Anderson intentionally flooded the holding cell by tampering with the plumbing, police said.
Anderson was charged with reckless endangerment in the first degree, a felony, fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated, criminal tampering in the third degree and numerous uniform traffic tickets.
Anderson is being held pending arraignment.
