Woman arrested on assault charge in Clifton Park

CLIFTON PARK, NY — A 45-year-old woman was arrested Friday on charges of assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

LaKiesha C. DeVaughn, of Clifton Park, faces one count of second-degree assault, a class D felony, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.

DeVaughn is accused of intentionally causing physical injury to a person younger than 7 years old.

She allegedly struck the victim on the arm several times with a plastic, cylindrical vacuum attachment, resulting in swelling and bruising.

The incident reportedly occurred Thursday at a residence on Huntridge Drive in Clifton Park.

DeVaughn was arraigned before Judge Jennifer Jeram in Clifton Park Town Court and released on her own recognizance pending further proceedings.
