Structure fire extinguished in Port Jervis

PORT JERVIS, NY — Firefighters quickly extinguished a furnace fire that spread to the second floor of a building on West Main Street on Tuesday.

The Port Jervis Fire Department was dispatched to a possible structure fire just before noon.

Engine 5 and Car 1 arrived within 30 seconds of dispatch and observed smoke showing from the second floor.

Crews located a furnace on fire that extended to contents on the floor above through a floor vent.

Due to the quick response, damage was extremely limited.

The Milford Fire Department and Port Jervis Police Department assisted at the scene.
