Man slashed in face in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A 28-year-old man was arrested after allegedly slashing a victim across the face with a sharp object on March 5, 2026.

New Rochelle Police officers responded to 222 North Avenue at approximately 12:58 p.m. for a reported slashing.

The victim told officers an unknown male approached him without provocation and slashed him across the face with a sharp object.

The suspect was described as a Black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

Officers developed information through investigative work and community leads that directed them to an address on Hickory Street.

Police located and arrested Kiwaun Irizarry, 28, of New Rochelle.

A knife was recovered during a search of the area.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Irizarry was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.

He will undergo a mental health evaluation.
