SPRINGFIELD, VT — Five people were arrested following the execution of a search warrant at a Springfield residence early Thursday morning, police said.
The Springfield Police Department executed the warrant at 78 Valley Street in the early morning hours of March 6 after a month-long investigation into drug activity, according to Police Chief Jeffrey S. Burnham.
Vermont State Police assisted with the execution of the warrant.
Multiple individuals were detained during the search, which resulted in the seizure of drugs, money and firearms, Burnham said.
Randi Sargent, 37, of Springfield, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of narcotics and carrying a deadly weapon while committing a felony.
Darren Loomis Jr., 43, of Springfield, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of narcotics and carrying a deadly weapon while committing a felony.
Johnavin Febus, 18, of Springfield, Massachusetts, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of narcotics and carrying a deadly weapon while committing a felony.
Paul Lachapelle Sr., 65, of Springfield, was charged with conspiracy and knowingly permitting sale of regulated drugs in a dwelling.
Benjamin Runnells, 38, of Springfield, was arrested on a warrant for fraud, cruelty to animals and petty larceny.
All five individuals remained in custody and were being processed at the time of the release.
Final charges and court-issued bail had not been determined.
