Drug trafficking arrest in Old Orchard Beach

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME — A traffic stop by Old Orchard Beach police early March 5 led to a drug trafficking arrest after officers found suspected crack cocaine and more than $16,000 in cash.

Police said officers stopped a vehicle around 12:49 a.m. during proactive traffic enforcement and identified the driver as Joshua A. Poissant, 38, of Arundel.

During the stop, officers learned Poissant was on two sets of bail conditions.

Old Orchard Beach police requested K-9 Lobo to conduct a drug sniff of the vehicle, which resulted in a positive alert.

A search of the vehicle led officers to approximately 32.1 grams of suspected crack cocaine and $16,074.01 in U.S. currency, according to police.

Poissant was charged with aggravated trafficking of schedule W drug, a Class A felony, and two counts of violating conditions of release, Class E crimes.

He is being held at York County Jail without bail.
