Man charged with assault after striking officer in Jamestown

JAMESTOWN, NY — Officers from the First Platoon of the Jamestown Police Department were dispatched to the north side of the city for a report of a disorderly person obstructing traffic on March 4, 2026, at approximately 1:47 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the subject, identified as Christopher L. Murray.

While officers were attempting to investigate the complaint, Murray began yelling and struck an officer in the face.

Officers then took Murray into custody following a brief struggle.

Murray was transported to the Jamestown City Jail.

As a result of the incident, the involved officers sustained minor injuries.

Christopher L. Murray was charged with assault in the second degree and resisting arrest.

Murray was held at the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
