Two arrested on larceny charges in Springport

SPRINGPORT, NY — Two people turned themselves in to authorities after being accused of stealing from a business in the town.

Lawrence Werts, 57, and Billie Tassone-Werts, 52, both of Auburn, were arrested March 3 on two counts of conspiracy in the sixth degree and two counts of petit larceny.

Deputies were dispatched Feb. 23 to a business in Springport for a larceny complaint involving incidents that occurred Feb. 17 and Feb. 19.

The investigation determined that Werts and Tassone-Werts engaged in conduct constituting petit larceny with each other, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.

The pair turned themselves in at 4:30 p.m. March 3 at the Public Safety Building, where they were issued appearance tickets.

They are scheduled to appear in Springport Town Court on March 11 at 4 p.m.
