WATERBURY, CT — A multi-agency law enforcement operation resulted in the arrest of a man on drug and other charges on Feb. 27, 2026.
Officers from the Waterbury Police Department’s Vice and Intelligence Unit, Crime Prevention Unit, Auto Theft Task Force, Gang Task Force, and the Connecticut State Police Violent Crime Task Force executed search warrants for Carlos Baez, 43, of Waterbury, and a basement apartment at 60 Fairfax Street.
Officers observed Baez entering a white Honda Accord during the execution of the warrant and conducted a motor vehicle stop.
Baez refused to exit the vehicle and attempted to flee but was apprehended.
Officers seized narcotic pills, $1,600 in U.S. currency and 100 grams of crack cocaine during the investigation.
Baez was charged with possession of narcotics, interfering with an officer, violation of protection order, illegal operation of a drug factory, possession of one-half ounce or more of cocaine and possession of narcotics with intent to sell.
Baez had a full no contact protective order with his girlfriend, who was present during the incident.
