CORINTH, NY — A Milton man faces multiple felony charges after allegedly ramming a sheriff’s patrol vehicle and injuring two deputies during an attempted traffic stop.

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle to execute a legal process on Feb. 19 at 1:56 p.m. on state Route 9N in the town of Corinth.

The vehicle, a 2024 Dodge Ram operated by James P. McMahon, 42, of Milton, fled from deputies and troopers and allegedly intentionally rammed an occupied sheriff’s patrol vehicle from behind twice, forcing it off the roadway and causing significant damage.

After striking the patrol vehicle, McMahon reportedly continued to flee and eventually pulled his vehicle over on Spier Falls Road in the town of Moreau.

McMahon allegedly exited his vehicle, ran toward deputies and troopers and attempted to strike them with his fists.

Two deputies were injured attempting to arrest McMahon.

McMahon was charged with criminal mischief in the 2nd degree, assault in the 2nd degree, reckless endangerment in the 1st degree, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the 3rd degree, obstructing governmental administration in the 2nd degree and resisting arrest.

He was arraigned Monday before the Honorable Michael T. Woodcock in the Corinth Town Court, where he posted bond and was released pending further proceedings.

The injured deputies suffered facial lacerations from allegedly being struck by McMahon and received treatment on the scene from Moreau EMS.
