Woman arrested on sexual abuse charges in Norwich

NORWICH, NY — A 33-year-old woman faces multiple charges following an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse involving a juvenile victim.

Kimberly E. Hart, of Norwich, was arrested Feb. 27 by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators allege Hart engaged in sexual relations with a female juvenile victim.

The investigation determined Hart promoted the production of nude images of the juvenile victim and disseminated those images electronically to a registered sex offender residing in North Carolina, according to the sheriff’s office.

Hart was charged with obscenity in the third degree, sexual abuse in the third degree, disseminating indecent material to minors in the first degree, sexual misconduct, endangering the welfare of a child, promoting a sexual performance by a child less than 17 years of age and promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child less than 17 years of age.

She was arraigned at the Chenango County Centralized Arraignment and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility.

Bail was set at $15,000 cash, $30,000 bond or $60,000 partially secured bond at 10 percent.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the sheriff’s office was assisted by partnering law enforcement agencies.
