NEW HAVEN COUNTY, CT — Two people were arrested Feb. 27, 2026, in connection with an attempt to fraudulently open a bank account at Liberty Bank.
David Yorwerth, 60, and Taylor Greene, 28, were taken into custody after officers responded to the bank at 49 Pershing Drive.
A bank employee recognized Yorwerth as a suspect from a prior fraudulent account attempt at a Liberty Bank branch in North Haven, according to police.
Officers detained Yorwerth upon arrival and determined he was in possession of fraudulent and forged identification documents.
Police identified Greene as a co-conspirator in the scheme through review of surveillance footage and additional electronic evidence.
Yorwerth was charged with conspiracy to commit identity theft in the third degree, conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation, conspiracy to commit forgery in the first degree, identity theft in the third degree, criminal impersonation, forgery in the first degree and interfering with an officer.
Greene was charged with conspiracy to commit identity theft in the third degree, conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation, conspiracy to commit forgery in the first degree, identity theft in the third degree and forgery in the first degree.
