Two charged after traffic stop in Bangor

BANGOR, NY — New York State Police charged two men with drug-related offenses following a traffic stop on Feb. 28, 2026.

Phillip T. Dishaw, 55, of Norfolk, was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Drugs (1st degree), Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia (2nd degree), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (7th degree), and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

Adam M. Dishaw, 29, of Brasher Falls, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (7th degree) and Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia (2nd degree).

At approximately 7:03 p.m., troopers observed a 2012 Honda traveling on County Route 53 in the town of Bangor commit a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation.

A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver was identified as Phillip Dishaw, with Adam Dishaw as the passenger.

While interviewing Phillip Dishaw, troopers observed signs of impairment.

During the course of the investigation, a glass smoking device was observed in plain view inside the vehicle.

Phillip was detained and a subsequent search revealed he was in possession of narcotics.

Adam was also detained, and a search determined he was in possession of narcotics as well.

Both individuals were transported to SP Malone for processing.

At the station, troopers administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests to Phillip, which he failed.

Phillip refused to submit to a chemical test to determine his drug or alcohol content.

Further investigation revealed that Phillip had an active warrant issued by State Police Massena.

Phillip was arraigned in the Town of Malone Court and remanded to the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail, $2,000 bond, or $4,000 partially secured bond.

Adam was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Bangor Court at a later date.
