Man charged in stabbing on Park Avenue in Utica

UTICA, NY — A man has been charged in connection with a stabbing that occurred on Park Avenue last month.

Utica Police and Utica Fire units were dispatched to the 1200 block of Park Avenue on Feb. 23, 2026, at approximately 12:15 p.m. regarding a stabbing investigation.

Upon arrival, they were met by a victim who was suffering from stab wounds to his back.

The victim stated he and an unknown male engaged in an argument when the suspect stabbed him then fled the scene.

The victim was transported to Wynn Hospital for non-life threatening injuries, and the investigation was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division.

On Feb. 28, the victim contacted the Police Department and stated that he saw the suspect on the 300 block of Genesee Street.

Patrol units responded and detained the male.

After obtaining additional corroborating information that the male was in fact the responsible party, Dominic Lanaux, 39, of Utica, was charged with assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.
