ALBANY, NY — A patient at The Capital District Psychiatric Center has been charged in connection with a violent assault that occurred Monday morning.
Around 7:05 a.m. March 2, 2026, Albany Police responded to The Capital District Psychiatric Center after staff reported a violent incident between two patients.
Upon arrival, officers located a 55-year-old woman suffering from severe facial and head injuries.
The victim was treated on scene and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital, where she remains in critical but stable condition.
David Trebilcock, 44, was located on scene and taken into custody.
Through further investigation, detectives determined that the assault occurred in a common area of the facility.
Trebilcock kicked, punched, and stomped on the victim’s face and head, resulting in severe facial and head trauma.
Trebilcock has been charged with attempted murder.
He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
