FRANKLIN BOROUGH, NJ — A couple faces multiple charges following a physical altercation with snow removal workers on Church Street.
Matthew Hnyda, 32, and Miranda Hnyda, 29, both of Franklin Borough, were charged on January 30, 2026, by Franklin Borough Patrol Officers Eric Moschberger and Jonathan Sienkiewicz.
Officers were dispatched to a report of a fight in progress in the roadway on January 26, 2026.
Upon arrival, officers observed several individuals engaged in a physical altercation and separated the parties involved.
An investigation, including review of surveillance footage from nearby properties, determined that Miranda Hnyda had stopped a vehicle in the lane of travel.
Matthew Hnyda was observed exiting the vehicle, and both individuals were seen initiating a confrontation with individuals who were working in the roadway clearing snow from a nearby property.
The dispute escalated into a physical altercation, causing public alarm and creating a hazard for motorists traveling through the area.
Miranda Hnyda was charged with disorderly conduct, maintaining a nuisance and related motor vehicle summonses.
Matthew Hnyda was charged with disorderly conduct, simple assault and maintaining a nuisance.
Both were issued complaint summonses and released pending their appearance in Sussex County Superior Court in accordance with the New Jersey Bail Reform Act.
