Two-vehicle crash leaves woman dead in Clayton

CLAYTON, NJ — A 19-year-old woman died following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of East Academy Street and Fries Mill Road on Sunday night.

Clayton Police Department responded to the crash at 9:52 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found one vehicle overturned with three occupants trapped inside.

Emergency rescue personnel extricated and treated multiple victims at the scene.

The 19-year-old woman from Clayton was transported to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead from her injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates that one vehicle traveling northbound on Fries Mill Road attempted to make a left-hand turn and entered the path of a second vehicle traveling southbound on Fries Mill Road, resulting in the collision.

Clayton Police Department was assisted at the scene by Franklin Twp. Police Department, Monroe Police Department, Clayton Fire Department, Gloucester County EMS, Inspira Paramedics and Franklinville Fire Department.

The crash remains under investigation by Sgt. James Mayo and Ptlm. Robert Crawford.
