UTICA, NY — Two men have been arrested in connection with a stabbing that left two people injured on Genesee Street.
Utica Police and Utica Fire units were dispatched to 276 Genesee St. at 1 a.m. on Feb. 15, 2026, regarding a stabbing investigation.
Upon arrival, officers found a female with injuries to her hand and a male suffering from multiple stab wounds to the face and neck.
Witnesses reported they heard a knock at the door and when they went to investigate, two unknown males attacked the male victim, repeatedly stabbing him.
The female was cut as she attempted to assist the victim.
The male victim was immediately transported by Utica Fire Department to Wynn Hospital, where emergency department staff stabilized him and saved his life.
The investigation was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division, and with assistance from the Mohawk Valley Crime Analysis Center, the suspects were positively identified.
On Feb. 19, 2026, the first suspect, Bobby Collins, 45, of Utica, was located by members of the Warrants, GIVE and Patrol Division and taken into custody.
On Feb. 27, 2026, members of the NY/NJ U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force received information that the second suspect, Franklin Gentry, 41, was in Norwich, N.Y.
The team located Gentry in an outdoor location and took him into custody without incident.
He was then transported to the Utica Police Department.
Both Collins and Gentry were charged with attempted murder in the second degree.
