Police warn of phone scams targeting seniors in Ansonia

ANSONIA, CT — The Ansonia Police Department is warning residents about phone scams targeting seniors in the community.

Scammers are posing as police officers, government officials and family members to demand money, gift cards or personal information from elderly residents.

Police are urging residents to hang up on suspicious calls and contact the department immediately.

Anyone who receives a suspicious call should report it to the Ansonia Police Department at 203-735-1885.

Fraudulent calls can also be reported to the FBI at 1-800-225-5324.
