Rideshare driver arrested on weapons charges in Secaucus

SECAUCUS, NJ — A rideshare driver was arrested after allegedly pointing a handgun at another motorist following a road rage incident on Feb. 26, 2026.

The incident began at 6:42 a.m. when a road rage encounter was reported on Seaview Drive, according to the Secaucus Police Department.

Alberto M. Balcazer was dropping off a passenger at a business in the 500 block of Meadowlands Parkway when he encountered the other driver involved in the earlier road rage incident, who worked at the same business.

Balcazer pulled his vehicle in front of the other driver’s vehicle in the parking lot and stopped, police said.

During a verbal dispute, Balcazer displayed what was described as a large caliber semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at the victim, according to police.

Balcazer then fled the scene.

The Secaucus Police Department Patrol and Detective Divisions worked together to identify Balcazer’s vehicle.

Detectives responded to Balcazer’s residence in Linden and conducted surveillance until he returned home.

During a search of his residence, detectives seized a .50 caliber Desert Eagle Magnum handgun along with hollow point ammunition.

Balcazer, 51, of Linden, was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, aggravated assault, terroristic threats and possession of hollow point ammunition.

He was lodged in the Hudson County Jail.
